City Block

This Demo Reel environment was a challenge for me. Based on an artwork by Lea Pinto, this piece required large scale model kits, stylized textures and a lot of technical solutions to get the look I wanted.
Model kits for each building and the street elements.

I used atlas textures for certain elements like decals and window textures. I had to build custom shaders to adjust UV's and be able to display and modify visuals per object in the scene.

Never underestimate simple things like custom post process materials. On the left is the default look my scene had, focus on the shadows and darker areas. Compared to the image on the right which has a much cooler look to its shadows. With a very simple post process material I made, I could edit and change the overall look and color of my darker areas and give them a cooler tone that contrasts better in the scene. All remaining in Engine.

A simple but fun experiment I did in this scene is parallax mapped textures to create some facade rooms in the environment. Overall the results looked good at the angles you viewed the scene at and I kept it in.

This piece is a culmination of my time at gnomon, and I am very proud and happy to show it off.
Thank you for checking it out.
